Donald C. “Buck” Brookman, 86, of Washington passed away Friday March 29, 2024 in Concordia Hospice in Washington.
He was born November 5, 1937 in Washington a son of the late Earl and Katherine McAnany Brookman.
Mr. Brookman enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was on the first World Series Pony League baseball team.
He was a member of St. Hilary Church in Washington.
For more than seventy years he was the owner and operator of Brookman Iron and Metals and continued working until eighty-three years of age. Buck claimed his son fired him at age eighty-three.
On August 24, 1957, he married Geraldine Vito who preceded him in death on September 25, 2005.
Surviving are two sons Donald C. (Kathie) Brookman, Jr. and Bryan (Erin D-Agaro) Brookman also of Washington and a daughter Lisa (Jeff) McCracken of Washington and eight grandchildren Colby, Cloe Eneix and Cimm (Bill) McArthur and Grant, Kyle, Ella, Aidan and Evan Brookman. Also surviving is his long time companion Louise Mosier, two great grandchildren Alec and Sevren and a brother Wayne (Judy) Brookman and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother William Brookman and a sister Betty Brickner.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday April 3, 2024 in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 1290 Jefferson Avenue in Washington. A Blessing Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home immediately following the visitation on Wednesday.
Entombment will be held at a later date in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations be made to the Washington County Humane Society.
